Monday 4th November
Lisburn
Hope Land with Michael Mayhew – R Space Gallery, 11am.
Performance artist Michael will be in residence at the Lisburn gallery between 4th and 16th November. Described by the National Theatre of Wales’ artistic director as ‘one of the most original and searching artists currently working in the UK’, Hope Land “examines hope as a source for social change, and searches for hope in the lives, homes and streets of Lisburn and districts to generate a performative installation that informs, affects, and promotes hope”. Luminous Curious Journey – various locations in city centre, 4pm.
Three temporary art installations over three days, curated by Carrie Neely, will commemorate 50 years since Harold Wilson had the idea to create a ‘University of the air’ and will celebrate the Open University’s arts and humanities research, with a focus on creative writing from Northern Ireland. The Ulster Hall will be running a Fringe programme with a series of complementary literary events, lectures and workshops over the three days. More details can be found on Open.ac.uk.

Gavin Robertson presents BOND! – Riverside Theatre, 8pm.
This talented actor brings Bond to life in this one-man show by spoofing some of the best known characters, with Bond finally meeting his greatest nemesis – his creator, author Ian Fleming. With original music by Danny Bright, a great night’s entertainment for any fan of Bond… James Bond. Tickets are £13 and on sale at RiversideTheatre.org.uk.

Cats – Grand Opera House, 7.30pm.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary musical returns to The Grand Opera House for a 15 date run between 5th and 16th November. One of the longest running Broadway and West End shows in history, this adaptation of TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the sets, costumes, music and choreography make this one of the must-see musicals. ArtsEkta‘s Diwali and Samhain concert by The Dhol Foundation – Ulster Hall, 8pm.
Led by renowned dhol drummer, artistic director and music producer Johnny Kalsi, The Dhol Foundation creates “a wall of sound” at gigs that is truly breathtaking. This performance marks ArtsEkta’s annual joint celebration of Diwali (the Hindu Festival of Lights) and Samhain (the Celtic ‘new year’ or end of harvest festival).
