Hello!
I'm Heather, the hand that holds The Patchwork Quill. Welcome to my little corner of the interweb, dedicated to culture, crafting and creativity.
I'm a word nerd and a former journalist now working in digital marketing. I love having a job that revolves around content and communication, however the Quill is my place to write and publish purely for the love of it. Good content takes work, so trust me - I've nothing but respect for creators earning a living through advertising, but the PQ is editorially independent.

That said - discovering and sharing all things creative, crafty, fun, thrifty, kooky and spooky is what this blog is here for. So give me a shout if you make, do or sell cool stuff! If I like it, I'll write about it; I just do it for free because I'm weird like that.
Please have a wee explore, tell me what you think and what you'd like to see more of.
Why I picked up my Patchwork Quill
I adore the beautiful diversity of arts and culture we enjoy in Northern Ireland. I also love reading, watching or listening to content that teaches or inspires me to make things and to be creative.

I searched for a website with all my favourite things in one place – there wasn’t one, so I made it.
Some of the patches are cultural, some are crafty, and they’re all sewn together with a sparkly thread of creativity.
Culture
A regularly-updated 'What's On' calendar, my personal picks of events on this month, coverage of festivals, exhibitions, shows and fairs, plus previews and reviews of magazines, books, blogs and more.
Craft
Sharing my own adventures in making and mending, all the little tips, tricks and resources I find along the way, as well as guest posts from makers and creators. Potential contributors can contact me here.
Creativity
Featuring creators and creatives and exploring their lives, work, motivations and processes. Giving old things new life by thrifting, mending, upcycling and repurposing - my favourite form of creativity!
